Today I woke up tired and by 9:00 a.m. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and just plain fed up with the day and began thinking a lot about just giving up for the day and trying again tomorrow.
Leigh Ann Dutton, at Intentional By Grace, shared a great thought during week one of the Women of the Word Book Study group, that as women we are often emotional beings and as such we let our emotions dictate our actions.
Do you ever do that? Do you ever choose to do something purely because you feel like it?
I would be the Queen Bee of living by the seat of my emotions, but times are a-changin’ here and I’m tired of riding that emotional roller coaster day in and day out while getting no closer to my dreams and goals.
In one of Brian Johnson’s Master Classes, check out Brian’s amazing work here, he shares this powerful exercise to set our minds “right” by turning our thoughts to creation rather than reaction models:
Stop asking ourselves “What do I feel like doing right now?”
Begin asking ourselves “What do I need to do right now to take myself one step closer to my goal?”
Leave your emotions at the door and take a moment (or two) to check in with your body, what does your body need right now that will help you get one step closer to achieving your goal?
Does it need rest? Nutrition? Exercise?
I’ll give you an easy heads up….the answer is never going to be a McDonald’s (or any other fast food of your choice) burger! Sorry about that!
Do you think this exercise would be helpful to you in changing your thought pattern? Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear from you!
With love and joy,
